The Governance Gauge: Privatization & Restructuring
We hope you enjoy this Wednesday’s Governance Gauge: for more reading material, you can always visit our reading list for more on governance, special economic zones, best practices and studies!
“Privatization and Restructuring” is a book by Daniel Czamanski of the Sir Harry Solomon School of Management in Haifa, Israel. This work focuses primarily on tasks, methods, and case studies of electric grid privatisation in various jurisdictions of the world, focusing primarily on the UK, Israel, and USA. The book notes various principles that can be carried over into similar fields (such as water, sewage, gas, etc.) in similar jurisdictions — however, the technical tone of the book may drive some away from what is an excellent read.
The book is split into 8 chapters, which refer to: privatization goals, electric technology, political and economic constraints, followed by case studies of the UK, Israel, US, and other jurisdictions.
Creators of zones and societies will find chapters 2, 3 and 6 very useful for their purposes: the technology and implementation of electricity restructuring are examined from a legal and technical point.
Policymakers and analysts can take a look at chapters 4, 5 and 7 for the best legislative and civil service practices in the electricity field, with detailed case studies on the successes and mishaps of various countries.
Scholars and experts may use chapters 1, 2 and 8 for theoretical explorations of the various questions posed in this book, as well as the prodigious bibliography listed herein.
The book can be purchased in hard-cover here.
